What did we learn from these first two rounds in USO? The best match was for sure btw Tsitsipas and Murray! Very high quality of tennis with the greek managing to go through in 5 sets. And a good deal of controversy as well due to Tsitsipas's behaviour, staying for 7mn in the toilets to have a break before the start of the 5th set, which has irritated Andy...For sure, this unlimited time allowed to players to go to bathroom has to change asap! Beside this, Djoko looks being in an automatic flying mode up to now though having dropped a set in first round. He does remain for sure the heavy favourite for the title without Rafa and Roger this year. But let me stress how i was impressed by Zverev last night! He is so focus on the game these last weeks, serving so well and making a minimum of unforced errors. Sure that he is the main threat for Djoko and we are all expecting them for the clash in semi-final next week. Among underdogs, Rublev, Berrettini, Medvedev, Shapovalov, Sinner have not spent much time on the court so far which is good. Finally, we should notice the good performance of Ilkel, the only turk in the final draw and has managed to get one set in the first round. Hope it will boost the interest for tennis of many youngsters in Turkey. The country deserves having more competitors at the highest level.
If the hurricane Ida calms down, we will watch many more interesting games and everything is possible this year with young talents eager more than ever to push Djoko out of the tournament, but that will not be easy! One more word: do not miss the clash btw Sinner and Monfils on saturday night, the fever will be there! Continue to enjoy the game and see you soon again.
