THE “CHILD SOLDIER” ACCUSATION FROM USA TO TURKEY

The USA included Turkey in the list of "countries using child soldiers". Human Trafficking Report prepared by the US Department of State in tje 2021, it was determined that Turkey used child soldiers, claiming that it provided "concrete military training, financial and weapon support" to the Sultan Murat Brigades, which have been fighting against the Assad regime in Syria for a long time was reported.

The US State Department also claimed that child soldiers were used in Libya.

Turkey, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, Somalia, Cameroon and Nigeria were included in the list, which is renewed every year by the USA. According to the US State Department report, countries who are using children soldiers are subject to heavy sanctions and restrictions to take commercial licenses to use some seccurity aids and military equipment.

Turkey reacted harshly to this issue through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "It is unacceptable" Turkey said...
 

SEA BREEZE 2021

NATO launched its largest military exercise on June 28, despite Russia's harsh response. The Ukrainian army and navy, which are experiencing tensions with Russia and is not a member of NATO, were also included in the "Sea Breeze 2021 operation," in which thousands of soldiers from 32 NATO member countries, including Turkey, are on duty.

5 thousand soldiers, 32 warships and 40 aircraft participated in the operation.

Russia described the operation as a provocation because it was close to its own country. Moscow defended the view that “the main purpose of this operation is to supply Ukraine with weapons and military equipment”.
 

EXCHANGE MOVE FROM THE CENTRAL BANK

The Central Bank (CB) increased the required reserves of foreign currency deposits by two percentage points to reduce the demand for foreign currency and force the transition to the Turkish lira.

It also brought reserve requirement exemption for deposit amounts converted from foreign currency to Turkish Lira! Administration will begin on July 19.

With this thought, the Central Bank foresees to slow down the demand for foreign currency, to dissolve the Foreign Exchange Deposit Accounts in banks and to ensure the transition to Turkish Lira.
 

WARNING FROM OECD

In meetings between OECD-WGB and members of the government and the judiciary, it was stated that the Turkish government did not take adequate action to address the concerns which is reported to it on the fight against bribery and corruption.
 

TWO NEW BOARDS TO THE ECONOMY

With the decisions published by the President in the Official Newspaper, two new committees were established in the field of economy which are Price Stability Committee (PSC) and Economic Coordination Board (ECK).

ECK meet once a month to evaluate the developments in the country and world economy.

The main task of the PSC is to ensure price stability in the country. However, the price of electricity, which is determined by the public, has increased by 15 percent and gas by 12 percent before board started to work. With the 1% hikes made regularly every month since the New Year, the price of electricity and gas has been increased by 20% in 6 months.
